"Our Vision, His Miracle"

MISSION

The mission of the West End Community Development Center is to develop the human and material resources of, but not limited to, low-to-moderate income communities in Greenville County (SC) and surrounding counties...to assist all people to emerge from painful situations, and to make the community residents self-reliant.

HOW IT BEGAN

It was in 1995, that Pastor Caesar Richburg shared with our church family the vision of the Life Center.  Subsequently, a church conference was held and the formation of a committee on the development of the center was undertaken.  The committee members were Wilton Wells, Sr; Waddell Henderson; Ruth Richburg; Doris Caree; Walter Moragne; Felicia Richburg (youth); and Torrence Britton.  Torrence Britton was assigned by Pastor Richburg as  chairperson and Mildred Tate served as secretary.  

The vision from the beginning was for a Center that would not only serve the members of Allen Temple, but all those in the local community.  Child and senior daycare and after-school programs were among the first services to be discussed by the committee.  As they talked with architects as to what type of building would be necessary to host the various programs, the vision began to grow and take form.

On June 8, 1998, a Service of Praise and Thanksgiving began our "Walk of Faith".  On November 14, 1998, Groundbreaking Services were held on the site, which is located directly across the street from our church.  The Life Center was formally dedicated on Sunday, June 2, 2002.

By the grace of  God, this Center will provide a venue where we, in partnership and collaboration with other agencies and organizations, will be able to provide summer camp/enrichment programs, computer training, youth intervention, parenting classes, sports leagues, youth conflict resolution, and much more!
